Chewy headshotHave you met this sweet young man, Chewy?  Chewy is a four year old gorgeous chocolate Havanese.  He is sporting a puppy cut at the moment, but we can’t wait until his hair grows out into beautiful, brown wavy locks.

Chewy 7Chewy likes quiet, gentle attention. He likes to snuggle up to you and get a good scratching. He’s also good at entertaining himself. He can’t resist bones, bully sticks, and soft stuffed toys. As for squeaking toys – well, those are his BFFs!

At 22 pounds, Chewy is a jolly pup. His New Year’s resolution is to slim down a little, so he’s ready to put on his leash and take a nice walk with you. Don’t sign him up for a marathon yet – one of his kneecaps is wobbly, which sometimes causes a slight limp and occasional stiffness. Like a true champ, this doesn’t prevent Chewy from navigating the stairs, exploring the yard and, of course, trotting by your side on a nice, leisurely walk.

Chewy 8Chewy is completely housetrained. He knows “sit,” “down,” and will come when called. He loves his treats, so training him is quite easy. He is trained to stay in a crate when left alone, and at night he sleeps in a comfy dog bed in the master bedroom. He gets along well with his three foster dog siblings, and has even lived peaceably with a cat!

Chewy’s wish list: this fella would very much like to have a quiet home. Young children might play too rough, but he seems okay with calm kids older than 12 years old. Though Chewy gets along well with other dogs, he would flourish as your one and only, or maybe with one other small dog for quiet company. Chewy would also like someone to be at home most of the time. That shouldn’t be too hard if you had a cutie like Chewy. Wouldn’t you rush home to cuddle his fuzzy face!
