This very handsome young man is Abe, a beautiful 3 year old male Havanese who has recently had quite a haircut. Another one of the lucky few, he was rescued from the horror of a puppy mill and was terribly matted and filthy. He is now very grateful to HRI for this new haircut, bath, and a chance to show the whole world what an amazing companion he’ll become.

Mocha is a sweet 2 ½ year old chocolate color Havanese. This yummy little chocolate guy is a wee one, weighing about 9 lb. His start in life was a little tough, and we aren’t quite sure of his background. We do know he came from a loving owner who cared enough to make sure Mocha got into the safe arms of HRI.

Lita has seen the tough side of life, but remains a very sweet and loving dog. Estimated to be 8-10 years old, she enjoys hanging out with people, resting in a dog bed, and eating a few small bits of cheese when her foster mom has a snack. She likes being outside in the grass, too, and is doing a great job with house training! Lita does pretty well walking on a leash as well. We think that once upon a time she had someone who cared for her and taught her some nice manners.

Talk about “tough”, allow me to introduce to you one Mr. Ernie Bernie Mac.  Ernie came to us after an arduous and difficult early part of his life.  He was transported to Atlanta by a host of fantastic volunteers.  Upon his arrival, he was immediately sent for his medical check-up because of a bladder infection and to see how his broken right rear leg was healing.

Ebony is a 2 year old mix, and as you can see from her pictures, has a coat that is a very deep and beautiful black. Her fur is also wavy and soft.
