Corty_headshotCorty is a beautiful 2-year old silver/grey/black/blue male Havanese. The more his fur grows out the more the color changes! He has learned that treats and toast are wonderful things and will play with squeaky toys now and then. He loves bully sticks –- his foster mom says she’s never seen a dog polish one off so fast. He loves to be outside and enjoys basking in the sun on their deck.

Corty_standingCorty is extremely shy and needs help with socialization and building his trust and confidence. He was rescued from a home that had many dogs so he never received the attention or time to learn that people are his best friend. He tries to stay under the radar and in the background. His foster mom has been working on bringing out his true personality, but Corty still has a way to go. He wants so badly to be a pet and part of the family, but just doesn't know how yet.
His foster mom says he does fine when people approach his food bowl -- he simply scoots away. He will put himself into his crate at night once he makes sure no one is around. He is getting comfortable with coming for pets and scratches now and then but again, he doesn’t have a lot of trust and confidence in people. Corty likes playing with the other Havies, but seems to feel more comfortable lying in his bed in the far corner of the family room where he can keep an eye on everything.

Corty has done the true Havanese run-like-the-wind a few times so we know he has a true Havie inside just waiting for the right time to show everyone what he is made of. He has started following his foster mom around and we know with continued work Corty will be the wonderful dog he was meant to be.

Corty_on_blanketCorty's ideal home would have another dog or two around for playmates and to show him all the things a dog needs to know. He seems to do well when left alone for a time but is right there at the door when his foster family comes back. He is not comfortable around small children but teenagers would be okay. He will need someone with lots of gentleness and patience, dedicated in helping him become more socialized and confident. The reward for all that time and attention? A gorgeous pup who will make every day a bit more special because he is in someone’s life.

CORTY is being fostered in KY.
