Sophia is not the same dog that came to her foster home just 5 weeks ago. She is much more outgoing and has started to ask for attention when approached by her foster mom and dad. She is waiting with an enthusiastic welcome that includes lots of kisses whenever her foster mom and dad return home.
When Sophia first came into HRI, her walks had to be short. Everything was too scary for her. Sophia now enjoys longer walks, and finds all sorts of things to investigate. She loves to smell the flowers, or she'll watcha bird hop around. No tugging or pulling on a leash for her. She takes her time to enjoy the world while she also takes care of business. Sophia is doing very well with her potty training but in a pinch, she will use pee pads.
Running around the house with her new Havanese friend puts a smile on her face. Sophia is a bit shy when meeting new dog friends, but before long she is running with the crowd, or joining them in a sunbeam for a nap. Adaptability is Sophia's strength. She hasn't growled at anyone about anything; not even the vet. She will sleep in her crate in her foster mom's bedroom or on the bed. She is friendly with men, women, children and dogs. She likes to have her long silky hair brushed and combed. All of these changes have happened within a few weeks. To continue her development into becoming a very best friend for someone she needs more days filled with kind words of praise, a calm voice, and hugs filled with love. She will love you back with all her heart
