Hi, my name is Iggy. I live in Florida and have for as long as I can remember. But my world turned upside down recently when my human parent passed away.
Ever since, I have been soothing myself with food because I miss our walks and companionship. Which means I have put on a few pounds. I weigh in now at 33.4 pounds. I am on a diet that must be maintained so I can lose 10-13 pounds, so don't let me charm you into giving me treats. You need to be strong for both of us and keep me on this "strict diet" so I can stay healthy. They just aren't good for me right now.
I am only 8 years old. Some people think that is old for a dog, but I handle my age with grace mostly. I will say that I don't like cats (who really does?), I don't care for other dogs as a general rule and I am not keen on men. Actually, I would be happiest if I was an "only dog" because that's really what I was before my human mom died.
So, the good news is that I am housebroken, crate trained and love to walk on a leash! I love my toys and enjoy flinging them around, rolling on them, and playing with them, so I am easily entertained. And when I meet my new mom, I can guarantee that you will never be alone -- anywhere. I will follow you everywhere and become totally attached to you. I guess you would call me a Velcro Dog, and I am proud of it! Why live together if you aren't going to BE together, that's what I say. I guess that would mean I might do best with a more "seasoned" woman as my last mom was in her 60's.
The "other" news about me isn't really "bad", per se, but I have to be honest, I just don't do well with other dogs or men; I have even been known to growl at some of the men in my previous family. I don't know about children. Never been around them to find out. I also have very dry skin and have been susceptible to ear infections and cysts, but I haven't had a cyst since 2014 when it was removed from my tongue.
I always heard my Mom say that I "was a good boy but attaches to only one person" but that's ok. I only need one person to love me. Could you be that person? I promise to enrich your life, fill your home with love and laughter and all you need to do is just add love. We can share the best years of our life together.
Iggy is currently being fostered in Florida.
