GunnyHeadGunny (we've been calling him Sonny) is a charming and happy little guy who gets along well with everyone he meets. At 3.5 years old, he's lively but well mannered, housebroken, and loves being with his two older Havie foster brothers and the resident kitty. He's a little shy, initially, with new people, but warms up quickly and becomes a loving little snuggler who can't get enough pets and ear rubs.

GunnyLongGunny has a couple of toys that he carries around the house in his mouth; his favorite is his pink crabby. He's very smart and eager to please. During walks, he literally prances down the street, his tail held high!

Gunny was diagnosed with a condition called sebaceous adenitis last year. This is a chronic condition that affects the oil (sebaceous) glands in his skin. However, adjustments to his medication and grooming regimen have led to significant improvements, and his hair is now soft, thick and slightly curly and there are virtually no signs of the SA on his skin.

Those wishing to adopt him will need to commit to a simple regimen to keep this condition under control. This includes a mineral oil soak and bath with a medicated shampoo at the groomer every 4-5 weeks, a half-strength daily medication, and vitamin supplements. As his condition continues to improve, the medication can be further tapered down.

Gunny is so social and such a love-bug, so his perfect home would be one with at least one person who is home most of the day and can give the love and attention this sweet little boy looks for. Other dogs would be nice, but not necessary as long as his person is there to provide the caring environment he wants and needs. While he's in MN now, he can go anywhere, but it would be good if the potential owner's veterinarian would be willing to consult with Dr. Sandra Koch at the University of MN veterinary school, who is leading research efforts on SA in Havanese, and would love to continue keeping tabs on Gunny's progress.

Gunny is being fostered in MN.

A donation will be requested to adopt this dog. The recommended donation amount will be based on the dog's age, and medical and behavioral issues, if any.? A completed application is required if you are interested in adoption. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
