Meet Eli — your sweet little shadow ❤️

Eli is just a sweetheart. He is a well-mannered, quiet and easy-going gentleman.

If you’re looking for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side, Eli may be your perfect match! He’s a true Velcro dog who loves being close to his person and will follow you everywhere. He is perfectly happy settling in as your little sidekick and lap companion.

His favorite activities are eating and sleeping – or laying at your feet. He also enjoys wandering outside in the yard and hanging out there. A fun time for him is playing with toys or with his humans, but he doesn’t overdo it.

Eli currently shares his foster home with two other dogs and gets along very well with them. Although he lived as an only dog in his previous home and he adjusted nicely to having canine companions, we do feel he would thrive in an only-dog household.

His former owner also reported that Eli lived successfully in an apartment and is well suited to apartment living, but we have found he barks when left alone.

We don’t know how Eli feels about cats. If there are children, they should be older and considerate.

Eli has a quirky way of grumble-talking to you, especially when he thinks it’s time to eat!

Eli can be fearful and needs some additional socialization to help him become more comfortable when meeting new people. Once he feels safe, though, his loving and affectionate nature shines through.

He is more comfortable with women but is good with men, too.

Like many dogs, Eli is frightened by thunderstorms. His foster family helps him through storms with a ThunderShirt and medication when needed. Vet visits can make him anxious as well, so he’ll appreciate an adopter who understands that patience and reassurance go a long way.

Eli is still working on his crate-training skills, and he may bark when left alone.

What Eli would love most is a calm, patient home with someone who enjoys having a devoted little companion nearby. He could be an especially nice match for a senior or someone who spends a good amount of time at home and would enjoy having a furry shadow following along.
