Dash_small_face

Dash is a sweet, loving 1-year-old boy. He adores everyone (human, dog, cat) and is as cute as a button. Dash weighs in at a petite 6 pounds, although we hope to add another half a pound or so to fill him out.

Dash just wants to be with his people. He follows his foster mom all over the house, lays on the bed while she works, and lays on her lap, by her side, or on the floor when she watches TV in the evening. He's not big on toys unless you're playing with him, although he occasionally likes to chase balls and toss around his kinky green lizard. He adores his 7-year-old Havanese foster brotdash1her and sometimes can't decide whether to follow him or foster mom when we go in 2 different directions!

Dash is quite a conversation starter on his walks. Everyone wants to ooh and aah and pet him. He laps it up! So if you like meeting people, Dash is your wingman! Dash does well on leash, although he sometimes gets so excited that he can't walk in a straight line and wants to take off running. He's learning manners. He knows "off," "sit," "leave it," and "come" but is still working on stay. Dash is self-confident and curious, and is just a joy to be around.

Dash needs to be in a home where a person or dog is with him most of the time; he's had a doggie companion his whole life. He craves companionship and would be miserable being alonedash2 for hours on end. He also tends to shred whatever he can get his teeth on (magazines, newspaper, books) when left alone. He will need a family that has been "trained" to keep these items out of his reach and can give him appropriate chewing toys.

He loves his walks and also would like a fenced backyard where he can "run like hell," although someone committed to taking him to a dog park or other safe area on a regular basis would also work. Dash is good with cats and learned very quickly not to bother the parrots who share his foster home.

Dash is being fostered in WA.

A donation will be requested to adopt this dog. The recommended donation amount will be based on the dog's age, and medical and behavioral issues, if any.  A completed application is required if you are interested in adoption. Thank you for considering a rescue dog!
